About the Event

A space for the younger generation to express their perspectives on the designated challenges encountered in India. This mirrors the functioning of the Indian political and legislative system, akin to the process of passing bills. The objective of this platform is to elevate student involvement, allowing them to perceive the world from the perspective of decision-makers, policy shapers, and stakeholders, all for the betterment of the public at large. It serves as an excellent avenue for the youth to articulate their opinions, establish connections, enhance their analytical and innovative thinking, and enhance their aptitude for making informed choices, following a structured approach inspired by the workings of the Indian Parliament.

Rules

  • Every team should ensure they have their own laptop.
  • Each team must have one leader to represent their team for the entire event.
  • Your performance in each round will have an impact on your subsequent round.
  • The teams should maintain decorum and not get offended or arrive at any controversial activities.
  • The teams should be respectful of the other teams and maintain authenticity in their work.

This event is not intended to get political, hence the participants should ideate their thoughts in an unbiased and respectful manner.

Judgement Criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding – participants should be able to articulate their theory/thoughts and support their views through reliable data and facts.
  • Communication skills -usage of appropriate tone, language, and ability to express the views effortlessly.
  • Leadership and teamwork – the ability to work in a team and consider everyone’s views.
  • Outcomes – the execution or results produced by each team should be based on authenticity, feasibility, reliability, relevance, and efficiency.

Prize

The winning team will receive a cash price of rs.15,000.

Budget

The overall budget for the event will be 20,000 including the cash prize.

Rounds

Quiz

Participants will face a series of 50 multiple-choice questions related to Political Science and the fundamental operations of the government. The questions will be presented in an MCQ format.

Teams that successfully respond to all the questions within a 30-minute timeframe will be evaluated based on their quickness and precision in answering the test. The top 25 teams demonstrating both speed and accuracy will advance to the subsequent round.

Case Study

Participants will receive case studies to assess concerning several of the most noteworthy motions that have been proposed and deliberated in the Indian parliament. Students will have an hour to understand the content of the case study. The portals for responding to questions related to the case study will only remain accessible for 30 minutes.

The final round of the mock parliament will include the top 6 teams who exhibit both speed and precision in their answers to the case study questions.

Yuva Sabha - Mock Parliament

At the conclusion of the event, the selected teams will proceed to round 3, where they will be designated to either a governing party or an opposition party through a random draw.

Their task will involve addressing a present-day national issue and advocating for their respective parties. The team, whether in the role of ruling or opposition, that successfully presents the most relevant bill and effectively advocates for the given issue will attain the top rank and be declared as the prize-winning team.
